Embrace FarmWise's pioneering mission to forge a more sustainable future by tackling the pressing issues of agro-industrial waste and water pollution. Join our collaborative quest for innovative solutions and be part of shaping a healthier planet.
For Work Package 1 (WP1) of the FarmWise project, the objectives focus on a collaborative and strategic approach towards sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. This includes forming multi-stakeholder groups to analyze current challenges and develop future scenarios with insights from other work packages. It aims to foster collaboration at regional and European levels for the creation of supportive public policies and regulatory frameworks. Additionally, the project seeks to co-create policy recommendations to enhance water management, increase resilience against extreme weather, and reduce natural habitat contamination. Finally, WP1 intends to establish a comprehensive ‘train the trainer’ program, emphasizing capacity building for sustainable practices.
The objectives focus on the development of scenarios to predict variations in innovative management and mitigation measures by 2030, 2050, and 2100, aiming to understand their impact on water availability and quality across Europe. This includes creating interactive maps to visualize water resources, and assessing how climate change and management alternatives may influence water quantity and quality. Through these efforts, the project seeks to provide comprehensive evaluations that guide future environmental strategies and policies.
The objectives aim to systematically assess innovations by analyzing their theoretical principles, technical specifications, and functionality under various testing conditions and case study trials. Additionally, the project seeks to expand the datasets for testing these innovations and evaluate their scalability under current and future EU climate scenarios, ensuring their applicability and effectiveness in addressing environmental challenges over time.
The objectives target the development and implementation of comprehensive strategies for agricultural risk assessment, mitigation, and adaptation. These strategies will integrate technical and socio-economic solutions to combat the impact of extreme weather events on agriculture. Furthermore, the project aims to design and implement a real-time, precision irrigation and drainage management system to reduce the effects of summer droughts and runoff after heavy rains, aiming to lessen nutrient and pesticide runoff in European agriculture.
The objectives are focused on leveraging AI to develop a decision support framework for managing water quantity and quality across the EU, considering various climate, land use, and management scenarios. It aims to integrate physics-based modeling with machine learning to co-create water and nutrient management strategies. Additionally, the project plans to develop an AI-based visual support system that incorporates a policy modeling system for analyzing the impacts of hydrological, geographical, and environmental factors, providing scenario-based options to mitigate negative effects.
The objectives include developing a comprehensive communication and dissemination plan (CDP) to share FARMWISE outcomes effectively, establishing a clear project identity with dedicated communication channels tailored to specific stakeholder communities, reaching a broad audience with customized dissemination to ensure maximum impact, and ensuring industrial application of FARMWISE outputs by identifying market opportunities, routes to market, and developing an exploitation strategy.
The objective is to steer the project towards successful completion, adhering to the timeline and budget, with a strong focus on optimizing organization, management, and decision-making structures. This ensures the project’s goals are met efficiently and effectively.
